[solved] Laptop freezes, everything mounted read-only

Hi,

for some weeks now my laptop freezes sporadically. When it does, it can't fork applications anymore, ls shows garbage characters in some filenames and everything is mounted read-only. Once I was able to run dmesg and it showed some I/O errors (didn't make a photo unfortunately). After a reboot everything is back to normal. First I thought it's the new kernel but it also happens with the LTS version. Could that be a hardware error? But why does it work after reboot?

Re: [solved] Laptop freezes, everything mounted read-only

Two weeks ago I added

nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0

as kernel parameter and it only froze once since then instead of multiple times a day. Seems that the kernel update created an issue with sleep states.
