Fully stressed GPU in certain Proton games, lagging the entire system

I have been struggling for a bit with running some games using Proton, mostly Unity games.

Hardware:
1440p75hz monitor
Ryzen 5 3600
16GB RAM
Geforce GTX 970 (also tested on same system with a 1050 ti, with no differences) (both running proprietary drivers)

Games:
Dyson Sphere Program
VRChat
Cyberpunk 2077
Journey to The Savage Planet
Probably more, but I haven't tested that much yet

All of these games take my GPU up to 99%, while barely stressing my CPU and RAM. These games run somewhere between 15-25 FPS. Going from medium to lowest settings has little impact. When I tab out my system lags horribly and when I try to watch a Video on the side the my system lags harder even when tabbed into the game. All of these Games run fine under Windows and I had the same problems previously under Manjaro.

Some stuff I tried with no positive results:
Feral gamemode
__GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE
Different Proton versions (5.13-5; 5.0-10; 6.1-GE-1)
For VRChat specifically I tried using wine steam
and yes I am certain I am using my dGPU and not my iGPU

Happens with intel too, can't say about amd.
I think it is expected if the software pushes the gpu too much, maybe proton does and i bet it would happen under windows with other games, maybe.
You can try either mangohud, that provides hotkeys to switch configurable framerate limits or setup a prime render offload system so that the internal gpu would be free while the discrete one is under stress.
