T61 beeping disabled

Hi,
I have a ThinkPad T61 with middleton's bios. There, I enabled the charging and battery beeps. They work in the bios and when the bootloader is open (if I unplug or plug in the charger it will beep). However, once the full resolution is given in the tty, these beeps also stop working. I'd like to have these enabled.
Any ideas on how I can get the beeps working again?
