Composition Symbol ⎄ when using Compose key (Multi_key)

It seems after the last update of some xbk-related package pressing Compose key (Multi_key) now prints ⎄ (U+2384 COMPOSITION SYMBOL) prefix to show that it expects a key combination. In other words, when I press Multi_key + u + "  first ⎄ is shown, then ⎄u and only after that it transforms to ü. Before that the same combination of keys did not print anything until it was finished and then only the resulting ü was printed. In my opinion the old system is better, as it does not unnecessarily affect text layout, and I would have liked to return to it. However, I cannot seem to find where this behavior is regulated. Arch-wiki xkb page, Compose (Xcompose) man page, and a lot of googling only show how to enable compose key or add custom combinations, but not how to change the behavior during typing. Am I missing an option somewhere? Or did I somehow break it myself? Your help is very appreciated.

That's funny that you say that, because that actually sounds very useful and pleasant to me, but I'm fully up-to-date from my mirrors and I'm not experiencing this.

Do you know which specific package it is that was upgraded?

It turns out that this due to the update of gtk3. This is the latest changelog (https://ftp.fau.de/gnome/sources/gtk+/3 … 24.25.news) with one of the changes: " Show preedit for compose sequences".

Oh well, maybe you're right and it is indeed a useful thing. I guess I will get used to it. It is still interesting whether this behavior can be customized somehow.
