KDE Plasma resize panel by script

I would like to implement a kind of tablet mode on my convertible. I have two bash scrips for this, one that starts the tablet mode and one that undoes the changes. Since my panel is quite narrow in laptop mode, I want to enlarge it in tablet mode.
I'm sure it can be done, but I have no idea how.
I installed KDE plasma (plasma-desktop) exactly after the Wiki. (it's my first setup )
I don't know which other information could be helpful, so please ask.
PS: Since I'm a newbie, I don't know if the Newbie-Corner would have been a better place to ask, but since the question seems quite specific to me, I decided to ask here.
