Headphones in HSP/HFP don't sound

Hi everyone!

I'm using the Sony WH1000XM4 connected through bluetooth. You can see the following output:

➜ LANG=en pactl list | grep -C2 A2DP
        Profiles:
headset_head_unit: Headset Head Unit (HSP/HFP) (sinks: 1, sources: 1, priority: 30, available: yes)
a2dp_sink_sbc: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: SBC) (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority: 40, available: yes)
a2dp_sink_aac: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: AAC) (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority: 40, available: yes)
a2dp_sink_aptx: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: aptX) (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority: 40, available: no)
a2dp_sink_aptx_hd: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: aptX HD) (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority: 40, available: no)
a2dp_sink_ldac: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: LDAC) (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority: 40, available: yes)
off: Off (sinks: 0, sources: 0, priority: 0, available: yes)
        Active Profile: headset_head_unit

The thing is that when I change the Profile to HSP/HFP (in order to use the microphone) nothing seems to change in alsamixer nor in pavucontrol but I don't hear anything from them. However, if I change the Profile to e.g. LDAC I can hear correctly but obviously I can't use the microphone.

In pavucontrol I can see the sound bar being increased and decreased since the music is playing but for some reason that music doesn't actually output through the headphones.

This is the related software that I'm using:

pulseaudio 14.2-2
pulseaudio-alsa 1:1.2.2-2
pulseaudio-modules-bt-git 1:14.2.r149.dbb5164-1
pulseaudio-qt 1.2-2

bluedevil 1:5.21.0-1
bluez 5.55-3
bluez-libs 5.55-3
bluez-qt 5.79.0-1
bluez-utils 5.55-3

Thanks!

Re: Headphones in HSP/HFP don't sound

Same issue here with an WH1000XM3. Same with a cheap chinese Headphone. Sound in aptX, but no sound in HSP/HFP. Microphone working with botn in HSP/HFP.

Getting this from time to time in dmesg, not sure if related:
