Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

Hi,

I am new to arch linux and was running manjaro before. I just recently switched to vanilla arch and I am having trouble setting up Bluetooth.

I have gone through the arch wiki article on Bluetooth.

I have following bluez packages

pacman -Q | grep blue wrote:

bluez 5.55-2
bluez-libs 5.55-2
bluez-utils 5.55-3
pulseaudio-bluetooth 14.2-2

I also have btusb module loaded

lsmod | grep bt wrote:

btusb                  65536  0
btrtl                  24576  1 btusb
btbcm                  20480  1 btusb
btintel                32768  1 btusb
bluetooth             741376  16 btrtl,btintel,btbcm,bnep,btusb
btrfs                1568768  1

xor                    24576  1 btrfs
raid6_pq              122880  1 btrfs

My bluetooth service is also running

sudo systemctl status bluetooth wrote:

But when I drop into bluetoothctl console and run list it show no contoller

I have  gone though few arch forums thread but none of these helped me

I am also attaching lspci and lsusb output as this might help to solve the problem

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

Can you access the device when running bluetoothctl as root?
If not, please post the system journal ("sudo journalctl -b")

I have the same problem sad,

Its weird because, the kernel recognize the AX200 but it doesnt load the modules.

danimanx@V0ltcr4wf1sh:~(1)>> sudo dmesg | grep AX                                                        20:02 01-03-2021

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

No I can't access any controller from root user as well

here is the output from

sudo journalctl -b

https://termbin.com/vrqp

I also put a reddit post regarding this and some people over there are suggesting that it is a kernel bug with the latest 5.11 kernel
https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comm … rporation/

still to verify it

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

Does it work w/ the lts kernel?

If not, it might be the firmware.

ls /usr/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-cc-a0-*

Move away the iwlwifi-cc-a0-59.ucode and reboot - you should™ now load the iwlwifi-cc-a0-55.ucode version. Do you get bluetooth back?

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

You just move the file(s) to a different path, eg. /usr/lib/not-firmware/
Star w/ iwlwifi-cc-a0-59.ucode, then reboot.

I created a new directory in /lib named not-firmware and moved iwlwifi-cc-a0-59.ucode to that dir and rebooted but sill no default controller is detected on bluetoothctl

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

"dmesg | grep iwl" to ensure the cc-a0-55.ucode firmware is loaded, keep moving the newest version away (and reboot) until only a0-46.ucode is left (which still should™ support your chip)
An alternative approach would be to pass "iwlmvm.power_scheme=1" to the module.
You could also face a regression in the kernel module (since you were likely usig the 5.4 lts kernel on manjaro, which you would have to install from the ALA, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Linux_Archive )

Ceterum censeo: if there's a parallel windows installation, see the 3rd link in my signature.

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

A little update on what I have tried i was going through Bluetooth article on arch wiki and I saw this section

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bl … ooth_cards

there is a link there that redirects you to this
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … oexistence

it says that to disable Bluetooth coexistence if we have trouble keeping a strong Bluetooth connection. I did'nt understand it but have created a file on

/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf

with the options specified

cat /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=0

still no luck

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

Please don't bump, just edit your previous post to convey updates if nobody has answered so far.

You can add the parameter to iwlmvm the same way you did to iwlwifi and the run "systool -vm iwlmvm" to see whether it applied.
So far your problem is however not to get a more reliable connection (2.4GHz wlan and bluetooth operate on similar frequencies and can interfere) but to activate the bluetooth chip itfp.

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

Meh.
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=210611

I have to unplug the computer (or turn off the PSU), keep the power button pressed for a while, then turn it back on. This sounds like it might reset the CMOS, but doesn't do it. And it actually works, even when Windows no longer detects the adapter

to see whether it's a kernel issue to begin with.

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

Is there an update on this? I am facing a similar issue with the same chip. It can connect to some bluetooth devices (e.g. JBL Flip 4), but I am unable to connect to my Sony WH-1000XM3 both on Windows and Linux. I have tried resetting the pairing information on the headphones multiple times and ensured that Windows hibernate is off.  I have encountered three different error messages.

$ uname -r
5.12.4-arch1-2

$ sudo dmesg | grep iwl | grep firmware
[    5.909175] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: loaded firmware version 62.49eeb572.0 cc-a0-62.ucode op_mode iwlmvm

$ journalctl -xeu bluetooth

Jun 06 17:36:50 samox-pc bluetoothd[905]: src/profile.c:ext_connect() Headset Voice gateway failed connect to 38:18:4C:11:D5:7B: Connection timed out (>
Jun 06 17:36:52 samox-pc bluetoothd[905]: profiles/audio/avdtp.c:avdtp_connect_cb() connect to 38:18:4C:11:D5:7B: Function not implemented (38)
Jun 06 17:37:00 samox-pc bluetoothd[905]: profiles/audio/avdtp.c:avdtp_connect_cb() connect to 38:18:4C:11:D5:7B: Host is down (112)

The second error occurs sometimes. After pairing and connecting it tells me "Connection successful" but shortly after, I hear the headphones sound that the connection was interrupted and sure enough:

Jun 06 17:41:55 samox-pc pulseaudio[1711]: Transport Acquire() failed for transport /org/bluez/hci0/dev_38_18_4C_11_D5_7B/sep1/fd0 (Input/output error)
Jun 06 17:41:55 samox-pc bluetoothd[905]: profiles/audio/avdtp.c:cancel_request() Start: Connection timed out (110)
Jun 06 17:41:57 samox-pc bluetoothd[905]: profiles/audio/avdtp.c:cancel_request() Abort: Connection timed out (110)

The third option is that it doesn't even allow me to pair the headphones:

$ bluetoothctl
[bluetooth]# pair 38:18:4C:11:D5:7B
Attempting to pair with 38:18:4C:11:D5:7B
Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed

$ journalctl -xeu bluetooth
Jun 06 17:42:25 samox-pc bluetoothd[905]: src/profile.c:ext_io_disconnected() Unable to get io data for Headset Voice gateway: getpeername: Transport e>
Jun 06 17:42:33 samox-pc bluetoothd[905]: src/profile.c:record_cb() Unable to get Headset Voice gateway SDP record: Host is down

I have tried both first pairing, then connecting and only connecting. I'm out of ideas how to troubleshoot this. I hope a kernel update will fix this issue soon.

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

I haven't even managed to fix the issue yet. I got busy and just bought a Bluetooth dongle of amazon. its working fine for now. I thought it was a kernel but but if you have managed to get it working than it seems it is not a kernel bug. I have no idea what wrong with my setup.

Thanks for the update.

My setup is not working though. It does not reliably work for any device -- and not at all for my headphones. One of the reasons for buying my X570 Aorus Master was because of the built-in bluetooth functionality.... Well, my next mainboard is not going to be a Gigabyte one, that's for sure.

Re: Intel Ax200 bluetooth not working

You are saying that the bluetooth can't work with the X570 Aorus Master ? I have the same one (x_x)
