[solved] Thinpad T14 AMD sof-firmware

Hi,

Is it necessary to install sof-firmware package on a Thinkpad T14 AMD? I haven't installed it and my only issue so far is very low microphone volume, even when raising the level beyond 100%.

Most probably I don't need this firmware because the laptop is AMD and I have sound, but because of the microphone issues and wiki articles here and here it's not clear to me.

Your card would generally not be visible at all if you needed them and do not have them installed currently and they'd require it.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking that maybe I could be operating with a suboptimal configuration.
