New to ArchLinux. (experience = novice/intermediate).
I've a clean install of the base system. Basic X works ok cause I can run XFCE.
I've downloaded and installed kdebase and kdelibs for KDE3.2 but kde won't start with these messages:
'could not start kdeinit - check your installation' (press ok), with the terminal messages:
ot@Surgery1 root]# startkde
startkde: Starting up...
startkde: Running kpersonalizer...

startkde: Could not start kdeinit. Check your installation.
Any help appreciated. Anyone with some patience feel free to email me personally at rterry@gnumed.net

Have you run
pacman -Sy pacman && pacman -Syu
to get your system completely up to date? That's a binary compatibility error.

Solved!
Add /opt/kde/bin to your PATH (/etc/profile)

Or log out and log back in, because it's already included in a file called /etc/profile.d/kde.sh!
