Hello everyone,
I am experiencing random freezes on my computer.
PC stats:
Computer: Intel Core i5-3470, 8Gb of RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 video card
Linux version: 5.11.2.arch1-1, but crashes also were on all versions since 5.8
Using propietary nvidia driver, currently 460.56
Desktop environment: Gnome 3.38.4 on Xorg
Here is what I have found out:
System journals do not point at anything unusual. When I examined the previous freeze, there were no messages for roughly five minutes before the freeze
I have set kernel.panic = 5, but no automatic reboot have occured
Same holds for kdump setup (both kernel.panic = 5 and kdump were tested by a manual crash)
Hardware reboot button does not work - only 4-second poweroff button actually turns off computer
Checked memory with memtest 86+ - no errors detected
No network activity - I could not ssh to pc and inspect it
I can give additional information on request.

Are your filesystems okay? fsck?

Windows chkdsk detected errors and corrected on ntfs data partition. But it is usual for ntfs used under linux. Fsck detected an error (mostly harmless) and dirty bit on EFI system partition. Everything else is clean.

Maybe the gfx card is defect or the power supply weak (-> reset button behavior). If it hard freezes and even kdump fails there are not much options left.
Does it run stable in Windows under stress?
When do the crashes appear? Any specific pattern or situation?

Windows runs stable.

Looks like it happens when I use telegram-desktop-git and have firefox opened.
