date command freezing computer

Well recently, I don't know whats up with my date command. But when ever I do a date --set it will freeze my computer. I can move my mouse, but no windows will respond, no matter how long I let it wait. Then I have to shutdown my computer(holding in power button) and boot back up. Of course the time won't save since I had to shut it down that way.

Re: date command freezing computer

try running it outside X and see what happens.

does the command return? (you get a prompt again after running it) or does it appear to run forever?

I don't get any return information, and I'll try running it outside of X now with Ctrl+F2

edit...
worked, but it still froze X, but allowed  me to reboot and time is set to normal now, thanks.

As you can see, X still has a lot of wrinkles that need to be worked out.

Well this never used to happen which is the weird thing. I used to use the Date command quite frequently without it happening to freeze X

Re: date command freezing computer

Are you running Openbox by any chance? Because I think this is a known problem with it.
