GNOME "WIFI Networks Dialog" stays on top, dosn't go away

Hi fellows,

since today I recognised a strange problem in my gnome-wayland arch installation:

Opening the "Select Network" in the wifi Section of the gnome configuration dialog leaves me with a runnig but no longer controllable system.

The dialog "WIFI Networks Dialog" dosn't react to ESC, clicking the CANCEL button and the CONNECT button is grayed out. No Chance to leave this dialog.
This is new and worked last friday, last day i switched the WIFI Networks quite often configuring some routers.
Today I had to hard power down the laptop several times, no chance to get the dialog out of the way.
I tried to switch to the console (STRG-ALT-F6) and tried to kill some processes, but didn't find any solution.
After switching back to the X-Window (STRG-ALT-F1) and entering the password for my user, the dialog is still there.

For the moment my main question is, if there is a workaround like STRG-ALT-BKSPS in old Linux variants or is it possible to restart the GDM without rebooting?

Perhaps someone else has the problem the it would be helpful to hear about a solution.

Gnome is in the process of updating to version 40. You should sit back relax and wait till the upgrade process is completed before posting bug reports.

I'm using a plugged-in USB wifi, after pulling out the USB wifi, the dialog disappeared. However, the system was still not functioning.

Hi and thanx for your answers.

Its good to hear that I'm not the only one having this problem and it sounds plausible that gnome is in the process of getting to a new version.

Like @zmx0142857 I expirenced the same, result like you, after disabling the WIFI Card on my Laptop, I managed somehow to get around this dialog but the machine wasn*t usable until reboot.

Today I created some firewall rules in my homenetwork and changing the WLAN is quit a mess at the moment.

Lets hope the best...

Same issues here as well, very annoying indeed. The only workaround I was able to find is: always manage my WiFi connections through the "settings" menu, never through the top bar.

I'm having the same problem.
I tried to change the wifi connection using my desktop and laptop and the same occurred on both devices (gnome 40 running Xorg).
