My computer is connected to a TV via HDMI and the TV is connected to a sound bar (+ rear speakers) via SPDIF. Per my understanding, if I feed a52 encoded data via HDMI, the feed will be sent to the sound bar enabling 5.1 surround sound.
I have installed alsa-lib-a52pcm (following all the steps listed in AUR), as well as pipewire and pipewire-pulse installed.
I have read several posts on various message boards that seem to suggest Encoding AC3 via the a52 plugin is possible in pulseaudio but the steps were never there in sufficient detail for me to understand the process and to apply to pipewire.
Does anyone have any advice on how this can be achieved or suggest where I can find additional information to achieving this goal.
