startx and startxfce4 crash on fresh Arch installation

Hello. I've just installed Arch in a Virtualbox VM, but I can't seem to get Xfce to run. I've installed the packages xorg-server, xfce4, and xfce4-goodies. Whenever I run startx or startxfce4, they both crash with the same output:

X.Org X Server 1.20.10
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: Linux Arch Linux
Current Operating System: Linux ArchVM 5.11.11-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMT Tue, 30 Mar 2021 14:10:17 +0000 x86_64
Kernel command line: initrd=\initramfs-linux.img root=PARTUUID=4686b4b5-496d-a7dc-bd8ed9331421 rw intel_pstate=no_hwp
Build Date: 14 December 2020 12:10:29PM

Current version of pixman: 0.40.0
        Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org
to make sure that you have the latest version.

What should I do from here? I suspect I'm just missing a package or some config file but I'm a bit lost :$

Thanks in advance for assistance!

Re: startx and startxfce4 crash on fresh Arch installation

Maybe xorg-xinit?

-> xinit

Is it your first install of Arch? Read the Arch wiki´s and when you´re done, read them again smile

xorg-xinit provides startx and xfce4-session which provides startxfce4 requires xorg-xinit.

What is the contents of /home/[my_name]/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log ?

Re: startx and startxfce4 crash on fresh Arch installation

Have you followed VirtualBox/Install_Arch_Linux_as_a_guest?
The log shows X can not find the vmware module provded by xf86-video-vmware which is a dependency of virtualbox-guest-utils you should have installed if you are following the above wiki page.
