I recently installed Arch on my Dell Inspiron 7591 and my laptop is heating up (when the charger is plugged in) more than before, as far as I remember.
The temperature is usually around 50°C when the charger is not plugged, which still feels quite warm than what it used to be before when I had Ubuntu or Windows installed. After a few minutes of me plugging in the charger, the temp reaches something like 75, sometimes more.
I went through this post and installed i8kutils but didn't change anything.
Here are a few outputs of

To start off with, check you have the latest bios version on your laptop as bios controls fans.
The first line of...
dmesg | grep DMI
will usually tell you the current bios version. Also double check any bios fan settings are sensible.
Sanity check - all are vents cleared of debris?
Cheers
Paul.

vents look clean
I tried
$ dmesg | grep DMI
[ 2.036090] i2c i2c-2: 2/2 memory slots populated (from DMI)
[ 3.489541] sof-audio-pci 0000:00:1f.3: DMICs detected in NHLT tables: 2

but understood nothing, so I tried this suggested in a stack overflow post
$ dmidecode -t bios -q

So I figured my bios version is 1.9, I'm not sure what the latest version. I tried updating the system with
pacman -Syu
but not sure if that updates the bios.
While going through this I found out that i8kmon is been failing, which I think I installed while installing 18kutils
$ systemctl --failed
UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUB DESCRIPTION
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
● i8kmon.service loaded failed failed Dell laptop thermal monitoring
LOAD = Reflects whether the unit definition was properly loaded.
ACTIVE = The high-level unit activation state, i.e. generalization of SUB.
SUB = The low-level unit activation state, values depend on unit type.
1 loaded units listed.
And I'm not sure what to do with
Also double check any bios fan settings are sensible.

version 1.9.0 is the latest bios on https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-uk … op/drivers
No, pacman does not update system bios.
Did you check out https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fa … ll_laptops
and do all of what it says there?
