Recommendation on living room audio setup

Dear Archers,

in my home, I want to install an audio setup which can support the following

audio sources:
- play songs stored on a samba file share
- access internet radio streams
- would be nice if some streaming service could be accessed, too. I am not settled on a specific one, Amazon, Spotify or the like would do

user interaction:
- via mobile app
- via real buttons an a device
- via voice using, e.g. mycroft

So far I used mpd on an odroid, but that had the drawbacks of not being able to access a streaming service, not having a convenient way of operating the device, and no voice control. I would like to read your recommendation on
- hardware
- software-setup
for that project.

Thank you and stay healthy.

Re: Recommendation on living room audio setup

I would probably use a Raspberry Pi running Clementine, connected to an old TV via HDMI. A touchscreen would probably be too small for the Clementine user interface anyway. So I would use my Logitech K400+ for input. I don't know how voice control would work with that setup, but that is a feature I am not personally very interested in.

But generally Clementine is very nice and should tick most of your boxes, apart from voice control. I think this is really going to be my next Pi project! I had already been thinking about a "Pi jukebox" recently. Let's hope my Pi 1 B is up to it… smile

P.S. Looks like Clementine is 64-bit-only, so unfortunately it will not work on my Pi 1.
