Deepin - startdde fails with error "no display string"

Hi, recently I ran a system wide update which included a number of deepin packages. After that, whenever I login from my login manager with deepin chosen, it shows a blank screen for a second and returns to the login manager. To find out more, I tried running Deepin desktop from a tty with the "startdde" command, however, it terminated as soon as i ran it with the following error "no display string".
