I'm using xfce4 desktop and just updated this morning with mirror https://mirror.f4st.host/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch. I opened thunar and double click folder "Downloads" and thunar exited with a window. It shows "Failed to execute default File Manager, Input/output error".
So I run it in xfce4-terminal with command
thunar Downloads/
It opened and quickly exited with following error:
**
Gtk:ERROR:../gtk/gtk/gtkcellrenderer.c:1796:gtk_cell_renderer_get_aligned_area: assertion failed: (aligned_area->x >= cell_area->x && aligned_area->x <= cell_area->x + cell_area->width)
Bail out! Gtk:ERROR:../gtk/gtk/gtkcellrenderer.c:1796:gtk_cell_renderer_get_aligned_area: assertion failed: (aligned_area->x >= cell_area->x && aligned_area->x <= cell_area->x + cell_area->width)
Aborted (core dumped)
I guess it might be the view problem, so I changed the view of thunar. List view and compact view seems okay and no error happened. But I dont like them, icons look small and uncomfortable. I'm looking for any solutions to use icon view without error.

I can duplicate the error, and it works as long as it's not icon view. theres an open issue on the XFCE gitlab: https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/556

Maybe I should wait for the developers to fix it. Thank you for showing the link anyway : - )

I have the same issue, I'm not on XFCE tho, just I like thunar and have been using it for years.
Gtk:ERROR:../gtk/gtk/gtkcellrenderer.c:1796:gtk_cell_renderer_get_aligned_area: assertion failed: (aligned_area->x >= cell_area->x && aligned_area->x <= cell_area->x + cell_area->width)

in my case it crashes directly as soon as I open it. I guess we will have to wait for a fix.

I had this problem too but I solved it upgrading Gtk3 right now to version 3.24.28-4. https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/gtk3/

Yes, it has been solved with last night's updates. As quick as usual with Arch
Ahhhhh, I love this distro
