[Solved]Headphones not detected on starting display manager (SDDM)

I have some issues with my headphones being detected when I start my display manager. Whenever I start or restart my display manager, my headphones won't work unless I do one of the following:

  • alsactl init

    .

  • alsactl restore
  • Disconnect and reconnect my headphones

I have tried to automate any of these two commands in .xinitrc, .xprofile, and the autostart config of BSPWM, but none of those seem to work. I am stuck with running these commands in the terminal after my window manager has launched. I have even tried having no password enabled for alsactl in the visudo file and running the command with sudo through all of the 3 options with no favorable results.

Is there any permanent fix for this issue or a workaround where I can automatically get my display manager, X server or window manager to automatically run the commands for me?

Re: [Solved]Headphones not detected on starting display manager (SDDM)

Took a while but I detected that the issue was my Intel soundcard not starting properly and PulseAudio using my speakers as the fallback. I went to pavucontrol and set my headphones as the fallback device and the issue was resolved.
