Just restarted after a recent update, now my wallpaper is a solid color regardless of what the background image is set to, even when using gnome default wallpapers.
My usual wallpaper results in a solid black background, the gnome defaults result in either blue or white as far as I can see.
This is with gnome version 40.0.0
edit: patched version was put in the repository, no more problems at least for me.

Thank you for confirming that more than I experience this, I was starting to go insane trying to find out what I have done wrong...

I had the same behavior until the following were updated last night -- seems to have addressed the issue, backgrounds now work as expected.
[2021-04-18T20:31:43-0400] [ALPM] upgraded gjs (2:1.68.0-2 -> 2:1.68.0-3)
[2021-04-18T20:31:43-0400] [ALPM] upgraded libglvnd (1.3.2-1 -> 1.3.2-2)"the wind-blown way, wanna win? don't play"

Can confirm backgrounds are working again with those versions. I had to reboot as well.

Issue was resolved for me as well, think I posted this just before being able to get a patched version
