So most of the time is use an external monitor with kbm. I have uncommented all the HandleSwitch lines in logind.conf and set them to ignore. Wheneven power on the laptop (by unplugging and re-plugging in the AC) or do a reboot while the lid is closed, I will be stuck in a complete black screen. ie both laptop screen and external monitor showing nothing. What I do now is open the laptop then power it on until it shows the startup boot logs, then close the lid back. it is a very annoying process. I have looked around the bios and I can't find a way to disable the lid switch so the way to fix this is disabling it in the kernel?
