[SOLVED]Can't control GPU Fan

I have a GTX 980 graphics card and i cannot change the fan speed, i have tried everything people said around the internet and nothing worked

My cool bits is set to 28, i had 4 before but i still couldn't change the fan speed, i tried using GreenWithEnvy to change the fan speed, nvidia-settings by GUI and command line, GWE didn't give any error message, nvidia-settings by GUI said "Failed to set new Fan Speed!". For the command line i used the following command:

nvidia-settings -a '[gpu:0]/GPUFanControlState=1' -a '[fan:0]/GPUTargetFanSpeed=40'

and it gave me the following:

  Attribute 'GPUFanControlState' (archlinux:0[gpu:0]) assigned value 1.


ERROR: Error assigning value 40 to attribute 'GPUTargetFanSpeed' (archlinux:0[fan:0]) as specified in assignment
       '[fan:0]/GPUTargetFanSpeed=40' (Unknown Error).

I had installed the nvidia drivers using pacman like the guide said, but i couldn't control the fan so i uninstalled and installed the nvidia-beta from the AUR to see if it would work, it didn't

I search everywhere about it and couldn't find a thing, does anybody have a clue of what's happening?

So it seems like it's a problem with the new drivers, hopefully it gets fixed soon then. I tried downgrading my nvidia packages but it just fails to startx. Just gotta wait until it's fixed

i'm not really sure what i did but i've managed to make the fans work right, i did a few things that might've let to this, i enabled iommu grouping and efi-framebuffer in grub, but i don't think that's what fixed it, i think i just needed install sddm. i didn't need to use old drivers i'm using the lastest ones, 465.24.02

What? Can you elaborate a bit more? Or test exactly what fixed it for you.

i just needed install sddm. display manager.
