I recently installed linux-zen kernel to try it out. However, when booting into zen kernel, my pc gets stuck on the Starting Something screen, never reaches the SDDM screen. The mainline kernel is working fine.
I have used the zen kernel in the previous arch installs and it worked just fine. However, I recently reinstalled Arch and having this problem now.
The Black Screen shows:
Starting version 248-5-arch
The main difference from my previous install is that I switched to Btrfs instead of ext4. Other than that, I can't really think of any difference other than I guess the updates.
Here is my system Info:
Kernel: 5.11.16-arch1-1
DE: Plasma 5.21.4
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (12) @ 3.400GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Memory: 2452MiB / 16012MiB
Edit: Solved by installing nvidia-dkms

Yeah, Can boot the multi-user.target

Nope, nomdeset from Grub2 does not seem to work.

Edi, 'key - was the trivial thing…
nomodeset won't allow you to boot a graphical target, but if you can boot the multi-user.target, booting nomodeset should™ work as well.
Anyway, the problem seems w/ the graphical.target (SDDM) so please boot the multi-user.target and check the logs (system journal & Xorg) from previous boots that failed to start sddm.
Typical issues are around https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … de_setting / https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … _KMS_start and lately the 465xx drivers act up, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=265563
