[Solved] [NVIDIA OPTIMUS] Blank screen after update on linux kernel

Hi everyone,

I have an XPS 7590 which has NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 and i7 Intel CPU. I am running Arch Linux with KDE plasma and have configured optimus-manager for switching between the GPUs. I have installed both Linux and linux-lts kernel and the corresponding proprietary driver nvidia and nvidia-lts.

Before recent update this setup was working fine for me. After update, when I switch to linux mainline kernel instead of linux-lts in the grub menu, I get a blank screen. But everything works fine if I switch to linux-lts.

On blank screen, I have tried switching to a different TTY but nothing showed up.
I hooked up an external monitor while being on the blank screen and it successfully showed up the desktop on the external screen.

Please help me sort out the issue and make my setup work again.

Thanks

Me (w/o optimus) and few other people have similar issues with laptop screens on 5.12 kernel: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=266198
Have you tried connecting to external display?

Re: [Solved] [NVIDIA OPTIMUS] Blank screen after update on linux kernel

Thanks krzychek for pointing me to these bug reports. Looks like the only solution right now is to downgrade. I Will mark this thread as solved once these bug reports are resolved. Till then using my LTS kernel.

This has been resolved in the latest update but now the system gets restarted after changing wifi connection. I will open a new thread for the same.
