[solved] New Unstable beryl + emerald - No Decorations!

Hi,
I cannot get decorations working with the new Unstable beryl/emerald packages. Beryl runs fine and the nice animated windows etc are all present and emerald appears to start OK (no error messages) but there are no window decorations showing at all.

I'm using intel i810/i915 xorg, and DRI works fine for me. I'm sure my xorg.conf file has all the correct modules and extentions loaded and i'm running stock Arch gnome 2.16 packages on the desktop. All the WIKI instructions for beryl have been followed but no luck.

I'm no newbiebut this is driving me mad - does anyone have this working on intel i810 chips?

worrk on mine (running gnome).
I've got beryl in my startup, previously had beryl-manager. ended up having two emerald sessions running, so killed one of them and now it works.

I use i810 (i830 card) and have always had the same problem. The beryl devs say it is a xorg.conf error.

are you both running AIGLX?

Of course. All the beryl effects work except for window decorations.

I was having the same "no window decoration issues". Found this bug:

Just disabled cube for the time being and now have window decorations again. Just a temp fix for me, but after the last three hours messing with it, I'm happier now.

I am using the unstable packages.

Thanks for the ideas so far - no dice i'm afraid though.

As I said, so far as I can see everything is setup as it should be and beryl works fine, just no decorations (as should be provided by emerald) - emerald appears to start OK (though no messages at all!) but zip here.

Tried compiling from SVN sources today but that was even worse (just a crash) - I'll try with a more basic .xinitrc and see if that does any better.

Still open for suggestions though.

Just tried to run beryl from a default X session (replacing twm) and same result - nice animations, wobbles etc - no decorations... aargh!

delete /home/user/.beryl works for me

Hi, I was having a similar problem, which turned out to be the result of XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS environment variable I had set up earlier to allow firefox to play flash movies when using composite.

jeez.. I've been fighting with this for 1 month now, and never found a solution... I never thought it was the damn XLIB variable..
