printing not working; hplip, cups solved

A few updates ago printing stopped working.
(HP PSC 1610)  When I try to print a test page I get "Test page successfully sent to printer HP" but nothing happens, the scanner works and I can print from GIMP so there is nothing wrong with the printer. If I look at  permissions it says group is nobody if I go to root and change it to lp it reverts to nobody :?:

edited: I removed and reinstalled cups and hplip and now group is lp but it still doesn't print.

file:///usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip did not have lp as group
