[Solved] Soundcard not showing

I have a chromebook edgar that I am trying to get internal sound working for.

I am coming from manjaro to arch and it was working under manjaro, and I know I have fixed this before when running arch on this machine, but I cant seem to figure it out this time. I have alsa-firmware pulseaudio and pulseaudio alsa installed.

I have tried the config listed in the archwiki for sound issues on chromeobook edgar with no success.

aplay -l only shows HDMI devices

Re: [Solved] Soundcard not showing

install sof-firmware and alsa-ucm-conf and reboot. If that doesn't help post the output of

sudo dmesg | grep -E 'snd|sof'

Re: [Solved] Soundcard not showing

That seemed to get it. Install the soc-firmware was the missing piece as I already had the alsa-ucm-conf from reading other threads. I wonder why the firmwares shipping with galliumos dont work anymore for arch based distros.

The soc-firmware got it to show up but no sound. After that it was a matter of reverting changes from previous troubleshooting to get it working. Mainly removing the config files that galliumos-braswell-config had overwritten and reinstalling pulseadio and pulseaudio-alsa

After a reboot the sound was working

Thanks. Is it relatively easy to submit changes to the arch wiki? I want to get this updated so the next time I go looking for it I can easily find this solution, and others can use it.
