JBL TUNE 500BT media buttons not working

I have my JBL TUNE 500BT, according to the spec using

BT 4.1, A2DP v1.2, AVRCP v1.5, HFP v1.6, HSP v1.2

. By the manual and on MS Windows the buttons work as following:

• -/+: change Windows volume

• long press on -/+: play previous/next

• mid button: play/pause

On Arch Linux:

• -/+: change headphones hardware volume

• long press on -/+: do nothing

• mid button: stop/restart receiving audio, e.g. online players keep buffering forever when pressed.

Is there any way to get the standard behaviour?
