Timeshift breaks system after restoring btrfs snapshot on luks

I have done a fresh Arch install using btrfs on a luks encrypted partition. For system snapshots i am using Timeshift.

Problem

After doing a new snapshot, restoring to that one, rebooting and unlocking the encrypted partition i get the following errors:

[FAILED] Failed to start User Login Management.
[FAILED] Failed to start User Login Management.
[FAILED] Failed to start User Login Management.
[FAILED] Failed to start User Login Management.
[FAILED] Failed to start User Login Management.
[FAILED] Failed to start Load Kernel Module drm.
[FAILED] Failed to start User Login Management.
[FAILED] Failed to start Hostname Service.

The system is not bootable anymore.

I believe my system is supported by Timeshift, as it uses UEFI, btrfs with Ubuntu-like layout and grub2. (https://github.com/teejee2008/timeshift) But it does not work and i can't spot the reason hmm

What i have done so far

The first time of encountering the problem i thought i made a mistake with the btrfs layout. I did a complete reinstall, double checking that my layout is supported by timeshift. This time i made a full disk image using clonezilla before trying again. I tried restoring with timeshift again and got the same error. Right now i am restoring from the image.

I also didn't find a solution to the problem using google, maybe my setup is too specific or the error is somewhere else.

I found this sentence in the documentation, but i didn't understand what to do / how to do it. Maybe this is the error?

Timeshift Documentation wrote:

Make sure that /boot/efi partition is selected for mounting before restoring snapshots (application will do it automatically).

System Information

The drive is partitioned in this way:

  1. 2048M - UEFI System - /boot

  2. 32G - swap - opened at /dev/mapper/cryptswap - /boot

  3. 1.8T - Linux Filesystem - opened at /dev/mapper/cryptroot - @ --> / and @home --> /home

In the fstab file i have used exclusively persistent naming by uuid.

I hope i supplied sufficient information smile
