Monitor configuration failing
I have been using a triple monitor setup for years now. It is a bit janky, which is why I decided I wanted to upgrade.
Previously, I had two 1080p and one 1440p monitor in the middle of them. These were hooked up to two Displayport -> HDMI cables and one pure HDMI.
I just picked up three of these guys to replace my old displays: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MQBPMJ2?psc=1
I took them home, unplugged the old displays from their cables, and plugged the new ones into them (only thing I changed was power cables).
When I boot back up into Linux, I can't even see lightdm. The only way to access it is to switch to a TTY and back, which makes lightdm load up for some reason. Except only my rightmost monitor is working, and it's squished to some ungodly ultrawide resolution I've never used.
When I try to configure the displays in arandr, everything I try is met with "XRandR returned error code 1: b'xrandr: Configure crtc 1 failed\n'"
Although my other displays appear under the "Outputs" tab, when I enable them and drag them onto the arandr screen, I am unable to select their true resolution. The DP-1 display is letting me choose 3840x2160, and DP-2 maxes out at 1080p. All the monitors are 1440p.
The only way I can actually get the other screens to WORK, is by cranking DOWN the resolution. See the image here: https://i.imgur.com/DpH7N3M.png
All these monitors should be at 1440p, but only HDMI-1 is. If I crank down the resolution of the other two and press apply, I can squeeze them in the light grey box and it applies correctly. But raising the resolution does not expand the grey box and I just get errors.
How can I force the true resolution with these displays? I have a hard time understanding how three monitors that are literally the same sku are misbehaving when three different monitors/resolutions/brands/refresh rates was working beautifully.

I use wal which sets the wallpaper, not sure what got messed up with my display settings.

Please don't triple post when no one has posted in between, use the edit button to amend information.
This sounds like you are running on a basic vesa driver or so which can happen when the graphics module is not ready during boot, maybe post a xorg log. To generally try to fix that one would enable https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel … _KMS_start and load the relevant graphics module early, for lightdm you can additionally enable: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/LightD … TTY_output
Also old cables are often a problem here, do you still use the HDMI adapter or the display port cables directly now? See
