Awesomewm will not start. No error messages
Hi,
Just a few months ago I started onto a problem which I thought was only solvable by reinstalling archlinux. Unfortunately, I am still wrestling with issues in the same area several months later, even after reinstalling.
With my new arch install I have flushed out my system with xorg, awesomewm, proper drivers, and a very hacky internet setup.
My problem is when starting X/awesome (with `startx awesome`), I sometimes get the following:
screen turns black momentarily
screen flashes the awesomewm background wallpaper
screen doesn't change at all
all of which occur before x mysteriously "successfully" shuts down
((II) Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file.)
I have probed the X logs pretty hard and I don't believe I'm coming up with any solutions there, and awesomewm doesn't keep logs; if something goes wrong it's allegedly supposed to print stderr on the tty, but I haven't seen anything.
