Hey there,
recently i changed the position of one my monitors from horizontal to vertical. Since i use dwm i had to change some config files to take care of my head. Xrandr works fine but i want to have the correct screen layout from the beginning (in LightDM) which is why i want to configure the layout in Xorg.
I read Multihead and Extreme_Multihead but i can t find a solution for my problem. Now since i cried a little bit here is my problem.
I have three monitors with a resolution of 2048x1152, 1920x1080 and 1920x1080. The one with 2048x1152 is vertical. I am using a NVIDIA graphics card with Nouveau driver.
When i setup all monitors in Xorg without making the first one vertical it displays the correct resolution of 2048x1152. If i rotate the monitor the resolution is 1280x1024 (same happens if i rotate any of the others) after applying the config. After logging into my account i am able to change the resolution to the correct one with arandr but this is not a solution for me.

Which xrandr command do you use afterwards to fix it? What happens if you drop the explicit screen assignment and just keep the Monitor assignments? FWIW if you have a working xrandr command you can always just execute that as part of your lightdm startup: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA_Optimus#LightDM

EndSectionThe left screen behaves as it should, the middle one has a resolution of 1600x1200 and the right one 1280x1024.
If i put the xrandr command under 'display-setup-script' nothing happens (i guess it is because of the execution as root). If i run the command as root i get 'Can't open display'. Running the command as a normal user works fine.
