I really don't care much because I'm not Java programmer, but if they release GPLed Java ME and SE then all Linux distros can include Java!
Will this make GNU Classpath be obsolete?

It doesn't *need* to be GPL to be distributed with most Linux distros - most are not restricted to GPL-only.
If it was GPL, then it's pretty difficult to see what role Classpath could play in the GPL Java landscape. Devs may move to Apache's Harmony project. Alternatively, we would hope that the CP devs start contributing to Java directly.
Of course, GPL Java is still a rumour.

Absolutely not. Don't forget GNU Classpath isn't the only alternate implementation anyways. Besides the class libraries won't be GPL until mid 2007.

At least part of Java ME is already available under GPL v2!
