alsamixer showing "This sound device does not have any controls"

I am using pipewire and everything seems fine in pavucontrol but in alsamixer it is showing "This sound device does not have any controls.

Can be completely normal depending on your audio device, e.g. there are quite a few USB devices that don't export a HW control. In these cases pipewire/pulseaudio will enable a software volume without an underlying hardware control which is what you're seeing.

If the unasked question of this question is how you can manipulate that volume in scripts, use pactl or alternative pulseaudio mixers like ponymix or pulsemixer or so.
