docker run always gives "ttrpc: closed: unknown"

I have the latest docker and containerd installed. Any attempt to do a "docker run", e.g.:

docker run -it --rm archlinux bash -c "echo hello world"

results in an error like this:

docker: Error response from daemon: ttrpc: closed: unknown.

What additional information do I need to provide? Is anybody else running into this?

I have been using docker for a long time (months) with no problems. This just suddenly showed up this week.

Follow-up: I recursive-removed docker and docker-compose, removed everything I could find (e.g., in /var/lib, /var/run, and /etc) related to docker and containerd, then re-installed.

I'm still getting the same error.

Am I the only one seeing this?

Figured it out!

I have no recollection why, but I had a version (probably old one) of containerd-shim in /usr/local/bin. This was masking the official one in /usr/bin.
