AMD AM2 P-states?

Hello,

doesn someone here has an AMD AM2 X2-cpu (preferably 65W, but maybe it doesn't matter). Please mention which one you have: 3600, 3800, 4200, ... Could you tell me how many P-states, and which ones, your processor has? I'm looking for this info, but haven't found it yet.
More precisely, I would like to have the output of the following 2 commands:
(You probably have 2 processors. If possible, list them both please.)

1) cat /proc/acpi/processor/C000/performance
2) cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies

Thank you,

Michel Brabants

Re: AMD AM2 P-states?

This might be useful:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content … /30430.pdf
It list power and thermal specifications (including P-states) for a number of AMD processors. It is dated from march, though.

I have an AM2 X2 3800 (Windsor Core - 89W):
1) under /proc/acpi/processor there are only directories for CPU0 and CPU1. They  contain info, limit, power, and throttling but no performance entry. I have powernow-k8 running but maybe I'm missing some module?
2) 2000000 1800000 1000000

Re: AMD AM2 P-states?

Hello,

thank you for the info. You only have th performance-entry if someone wrote acpi-support for you processor. I read that Intel doesn't reveal all information to create an acpi-driver I believe. They are reengineering it or did it. I don't know about AMD.

The number of frequencies is quite limited to my opinion, but maybe I'm wrong ...?

I'm actually interested to hear from more people about this. I ordered an AM2 X2 4600 65W yesterday, but it will take a while before I'll use it (couple of weeks), because I'm still tryin gto find someone who will sell me a Seasonic S12-430 (4xsata, ...) and who is located in the neighbourhood. I know a shop who will get them in a 1-2 weeks or maybe more, but I hope to find the supply sooner.

Greetings,

Michel

Re: AMD AM2 P-states?

I have an AMD AM2 X2 5200+ and this is what I get:

1) As kappa said, no performance entry.
2) 2600000 2400000 2200000 2000000 1800000 1000000
