tint2 - How to centre bar?

I'm trying to make a centred app dock using tint2. This is the result so far:

It just won't centre, even though i have put "panel_position = bottom center horizontal" in the config in the right place.
(this is the full config for my panel):

I'm using arch with i3 if this is relevant.

Tweaking panel_margin and panel_padding does not help.
