Amarok, ipod and smart playlists

Ok, I'll post here, since the amarok site is slooooow at the moment...

When I copy a smart playlist from amarok to my ipod the playlist is converted to a "normal playlist" or am i missing something ? I want to create a smart playlist on my ipod that automatically updates while I listen to music on it, like iTunes (and gtkpod) does...

Well, the 2G nano supports them for sure (just re-tried with gtkpod).

but are they pregenerated on the computer from the knowledge of what's on your ipod? It'd be easy for gtkpod to make a playlist containing whatever you want on the ipod, but it be a regular playlist.

Or does the ipod itself update them, depending on things like playcount and such?

Yes,  they're updated by the iPod (if you check "live update" on the smart playlist window). You have to create and modify the rules on gtkpod, but then when you transfer the playlist on the ipod, it updates it automatically
