black screen or UUID issue with laptop HP (UEFI or/and Intel iRisXE)

Hello,

I try to install Arch linux (and Arco too) but I have always two type of issue :
- When I start with my USB boot key, I have a black screen after 3 secs...I need to start with the "Nomodeset" option.
- When the installation is done and I restart this laptop, I have a this error :
"ERROR : Device 'UUID=XXXX' not found. Skipping fsck.
mount: /new_root: can't find UUID=xxxx.
You are now being dropped into an emergency shell"

I have try a lot a way to fixed but I don't find any solution.
I think that the solution is in the Bios but I have try a lot a think without any solution.

My laptop is a HP Laptop 15s-fq2032nb : Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 + GPU Intel® Iris® Xᵉ + SSD PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 1 To

I have the same issue with other distribution under Arch.... I don't have the UUID issue with MINT/Ubuntu but I have the black screen issue too :-(

The UUID issue can be fixed if you check your BIOS and switch your SSD from RAID mode to AHCI.

If you have a bad BIOS that doesn't allow you to switch this, start the live usb, mount all the partitions as you had them, chroot in, adjust your /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and add the line

MODULES=( vmd )

and run

mkinitcpio -P

afterwards and reboot.

I don't have the possibility to change this feature in my (bad) BIOS :-(

I will try your other solution. To be sure that I don't make a mistake, can you explain me how I can mount all the partitions?

sblk -f

to have the partition name ?

mount /dev/nvme0n1p3 /mnt

to mount the partition ?

That depends on what you set up, so no I can't. The main thing is that you mount your root partition so you can chroot. If you used a separate /boot partition then you need to mount that as well so that the kernel images you will generate with mkinitcpio land at the correct spot.

So from a higher level perspective

mount root on /mnt
mount boot on /mnt/boot if applicable
arch-chroot /mnt
do things above
