pitch problem with zoom H1

Hi,

I use zoom H1 as a usb microphone with google meet and audacity. I usually select the frequency 44100 Hz when configuring the zoom and it generally work fine. Though, from time to time, the frequency of sound is not the correct. Pitch is higher than it should. Anyone experience this problem and found a solution? Today, after experiencing this problem, it was solved by switching frequency configuration of zoom. I just like to avoid this problem because I teach online. It shurely don't help my student to focus on the subject of the lesson.

I suspect you are using the mp3 setting on your H1? My wild guess is that this is an mp3 compression issue from either audacity  or google reading the compression  on the fly.

This is probably the solution. Set your H1 to use wav instead. If you're recording, you can just record with wav and convert to mp3 afterwards if memory is an issue.

EDIT: You can upsample the mp3 via software but that is a worse way of doing it than just simply using the mike's higher resolution. All of this of course assume that you are indeed using mp3 in your mike's setting.

I did not know there is a mp3 setting in the mic of zoom H1. In fact I'm using only the wave option and it gives me this kind of problems.

I see. Check that your mike's sample rate and depth are more or less the same. Perhaps google meet just requires a higher sound resolution and so you can experiment with the bit depth or the sample rate where it's optimal. If you're just broadcasting, then a higher sound resolution would be optimal anyways. It's only when recording that this matters more to save memory in disk.

EDIT: If you prefer your mike setup as it is, then perhaps you can set audacity to output at a higher resolution instead.
