Hi,
My goal is to get FireFox Narrate to work. I have installed speech-dispatcher and espeak.
When I do a
spd-conf -D
I can hear
"This is [a name] speaking. It seems your speech-dispatcher is working but none of it sound [inaudible] except me."
It also asked me to looking into the logfile. My /var/log/speech-dispatcher/ is empty.
What should I do now?

TLDR: try # pacman -S espeakup
I was setting up Orca for KDE and had a similar problem. I had installed orca (includes speech-dispatcher as a dependency) and (later) espeak. Searching for a solution, I ended up here.
Not giving up, I found
https://blogs.fsfe.org/gladhorn/2015/08 … en-reader/
"when installing Orca, speech-dispatcher should come along. Test it with “spd-say hello” in a terminal. Make sure to have some text to speech synthesizer installed (Arch for example doesn’t seem to give you one by default…), get espeak since it’s easy and fast."
and thereafter
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Instal … ty_options
"speech is provided by the espeakup package"

From what I could hear, it says : "This is the dummy output module. It seems your speech-dispatcher is working, but none of its output modules is, except me. Please check out your log file to see what the problem is. You can find it in <very-long-path>"
I believe espeak is one of the possible output modules, along with festival or piper.
