Can't start into any DE or Window Manager

Here's where I'm at:

Yesterday I uninstalled snap, there was a snap package installed called plasma-desktop but I uninstalled it anyway since I didn't think it was important. After all, I installed plasma manually with packman. When I rebooted today and logged in with SDDM, after the KDE splash screen I was greeted with a black screen and a Firefox window. The desktop, the task bar and everything gone. But Firefox was working. So I tried googling: "Plasma desktop not working" and some other searches, I found some forum entries but they didn't work. Then I reinstalled KDE and xorg-server, even SDDM. Nothing worked. I had gnome installed so I tried running that from SDDM. It didn't start and i got back to SDDM. Now I was curious because GNOME had been working and I thought this all was caused by uninstalling snap. So I tried reading the xorg logs and found nothing wrong (I'm not an expert at reading logs but I did not find any error messages). When I tried starting KDE from the terminal I got "$DISPLAY not set", when I set $DISPLAY to :0 I now get "Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key$DISPLAY is not set or cannot connect to the X server.

Some extra info:
I use amdgpu
My graphics card is the RX580

I don't know where to go from here, please help me. I've considered doing a fresh install but I don't want to reconfigure everything.

Well if you want our help you're going to have to actually show us those logs too.  Because obviously, there is something wrong.

Starting KDE (itself) from the tty is nonsensical - but you could / should try startx/xinit (once you set up a suitable xinitrc).

I can't copy paste the logs since I'm only in the tty. I tried putting export DESKTOP _SESSION=plasma
exec startplasma-x11 in .xinitrc but all I get is 3 terminal windows when I run startx

Re: Can't start into any DE or Window Manager

Could you please post the output of

cat /var/log/pacman.log | grep 2021-08-13

in order to give us a better idea of what exactly you uninstalled ...

EDIT: Didn't read the post above...

Which installer did you use to create this system?

However, this means Xorg is running just fine.  Your DEs are failing and we'll need logs (xorg, and possibly journal) to debug that.

Ok, thanks. I think you should follow @Trilby 's advice and also post those other logs - you're in good hands.

Re: Can't start into any DE or Window Manager

I installed everything myself by the arch wiki. Everything worked for 2 months until yesterday. I don't know which logs to give you. Please tell me what you need.

Re: Can't start into any DE or Window Manager

The xorg log has been explicitly mentioned twice.  I also suggested a journal log - though you could figure out what would be most useful by reading the wiki page for the tools (e.g., display manager) that you are using, if they log to the system journal, see here:

Re: Can't start into any DE or Window Manager

X11 runs fine but

Aug 14 17:45:44 Frieders-Arch-PC plasmashell[1196]: starting invalid corona "org.kde.plasma.desktop"

your plasma installation is broken.

Please paste the entire pacman.log - dogknowsnx might have missed that you're not necessarily in the same timezone ;-)
