Re: Double password when log in [Solved]

Nope, it's a feature.  It's to help you get practice to remember your password.

If you'd like a better answer, follow the guides below and edit your post to provide *something* to go on:

Re: Double password when log in [Solved]

You still need to post more information. What exactly is asking for the password twice, the lightdm login screen both times or something else after you've logged in?

Re: Double password when log in [Solved]

I don't know exactly, it's lightdm or lightdm-gtk-greeter
This command shows both
Pacman -Qe
The page is the same
Login page --> password --> login page --> password --> xfce

Neither do we.  The difference between you and us is that you are the only one in a position to gather more information.

My first response was a bit "playful" with this point, but I also gave you links to guide you in gathering more information: the first link is a bit more conceptual to cover why you are expected to gather more information rather than waiting for us to pull it out of you along with some examples of what reasonable attempts might look like; while the second link gives a lot of guidance on exactly how to gather more information (bonus hint for this case: see point #2 in the very first section).

If you start making some effort, you will get useful feedback, even if your first efforts don't go in the right direction.  If you refuse to make any effort on your own, you will not likely get any help at all.

Yes you are right.
I understood the first link.
But the latter didn't help.
Unfortunately, my English is poor and i couldn't find a clue.
I searched but didn't find any results.
This command --> systemctl
Shows only lightdm.service
Does that mean I have lightdm ?

Re: Double password when log in [Solved]

You have the DM that you installed and configured…

I'm with ugjka here.
Do the password dialogs look *exactly* the same?

Alternatively the session crashes during the first login and you're thrown back to the DM, a more common issue lately is that the GPU isn't fully initialized.

In doubt, make photos of the screen, upload them to imgur and post links here.

Also after the login, run and post the output of

loginctl session-status

Please also post the journal for a boot with the issue to a pastebin.  See the first link in seth's signature.

I can't take a screenshot because I don't have a camera ...
I restarted the system twice and looked carefully.
The only difference I saw.
The top was in the middle.
The first page was archlinux.
The second page dhcppc0.
There was no other difference.

What command should I enter?

Re: Double password when log in [Solved]

Thank you
Solved by --> sudo hostnamectl set-hostname myhostname
True, I didn't have a host name
But why did that page appear twice?

Re: Double password when log in [Solved]

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.

X11 is a network protocol that accidentally can also draw stuff on your screen - when the hostname changes, clients lose access rights to the X11 server and that will crash your session, lightdm restarts or at least presents you a new login dialog and the 2nd attempt works because the hostname is now stable.

If you skipped other parts of the installation wiki, you should certainly read them up.

Re: Double password when log in [Solved]

Note that we would have arrived at this solution a lot faster if you had actually posted journal / logs which you were given sufficient direction towards in post #2 and an explicit request in #7 and then yet another in #10.  In the future please don't make it hard for people to help you.

Unfortunately, I didn't know about journal and how to access it, and the wiki is very difficult and confusing for me.
But it gets better over time.
Thank you.

Unfortunately, my English is poor

If you look on the left, many articles are translated and you can also use translate.google.com or deepl.com and there're at least https://wiki.archlinux.fr/ and https://wiki.archlinux.de/ (no idea whether that helps you)
