I ran an update (yay -Syu)
now when my computer starts gdm drops me in a window manager I cannot identify, with an 'activities' menu in the upper left. I have it configured to use AwesomeWM, and it looks like that config is still in place, but ignored. Inside gdm (when I log out) it does not give me a list of window managers to use like I think it did before?
Help I am completely unable to use this "default" window manager, and I have no way to select awesomewm again. I need to use GDM in order for my plymouth config to work, so I cannot ditch it for another log in manager.

I managed to hack it. I went into the directory that had all the session files, like gnome.session or gnome.desktop, awesome.desktop. I deleted everything bust the one for awesome, now it drops me into awesome as desired.
Sorry for low detail, decided to post this from my phone in case I need to look it up next time I update arch.
