About btrfs subvolume and linux-firmware package

Hello, i have 2 years with my arch installation, i have an old pc from 2011, but now i wanna try in this pc, the btrfs.

1.- Create subvolumes is mandatory? My installation and usage is very very simple, i dont need snapshoots, backups etc.. i read wiki and some tutorials but in all they assume people will work with snapshoots etc..

I have a btrfs installation because just like you I wanted to give it a try. Like you I don't have a need for snapshot so I didn't bother with subvolumes. Basically I have / and /home paritions both with btrfs without subvolumes and I haven't had any problem with it whatsoever so I guess to answer your question, no, subvolumes are not mandatory, not if you're not going to use snapshots.
