Disabling laptop screen results in laggy computer on external monitor

Hello there!
It is my first time asking anything here and I am quite new to arch so pardon me if I make any kind of mistakes reporting my problem. Feel free to comment on anything you see wrong.
So as the title says, I am running arch in a laptop with a processor intel 8750H and nvidia 1060 and whenever I use my HDMI output to my other monitor but decide to disable the main screen of the laptop, it seems buggy. Note that this does not happen when the two screens are turned on or when just the laptop's screen is working.
There seems to be a problem with the drivers that I don't seem to figure out. The output from nvidia-smi shows that the GPU is under load both with both monitors and when the problem occurs.

I have searched for several entire days trying to find a solution for this problem and this is being tough so any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
