notifications wont display text for some programs on GNOME desktop?

sometimes it gives me text bubbles filled with rectangles.

i think there is an issue with my current installation of GNOME.

Ive managed to sort this out previously for specific apps having similar issues by clearing and regenerating a font file. But i think the issue lies with the gnome configuration. But regardless why does it happen in the first place with proper fonts installed and *seemingly* properly accessible by those applications? likely im mistaken and they arent configured properly.

this is obviously a broad question, whose answer may vary vase by case.  and what steps could I take to sort this out for protonvpn package ( from AUR so im aware bugs happen, the app works just fine otherwise).But i also was dealing with it after installing packages from official pacman repos
