problem with microphone

I have an Arch64 running on an intel motherboard with an onboard sound card (975X express chipset) , identified as the lspci enter below:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation snd-hda-intel82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)

According to Alsa Soundcard Matrix for intel,  the module to use is snd-hda-intel .

I've configured alsa according to the wiki page. The sound works fine (to the board limits) but there's something i can't make functional: the microphone. I've tested the mic in the (argh!) windows system i have to keep in the machine, and it works ok.

But i can't make it work in arch.

Any help?

Re: problem with microphone

You might want to check to be sure that the volume is turned up on the mic.  The mic's volume level usually defaults to 0 and has to be set in the same way as Volume and PCM, etc..
