Copying from faulty dvds?

I have some movies on a dvd. I tried waching them but mplayer detects the end of the file in the middle. Thinking about a strange error I tried copying the file in my hhd. cp fails saying Input/Output error. Most probably the dvd is faulty, even if I cant see dirty of scratch on the surface.
Is there a way to copy only the readable data and fill the rest with 0?

Edit: I am not sure what is happening anymore. I tried copying the file in Windows and it copied just fine... :S What could it mean?

Re: Copying from faulty dvds?

dvdisaster in AUR:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … =1&ID=2996
could help you with that. I've never used it.
