[CLOSED] Nvidia drivers won't load on fresh install (HARDWARE FAILURE)

I had Manjaro installed on my laptop for a year, and everything worked fine until a few weeks ago I did a system upgrade. TL;DR: I installed a fresh copy of archlinux. I chose to use gnome as I'm used to it. I followed the official guides to install the Nvidia driver and PRIME render offload.
But it still doesn't work, and after looking at the logs and doing a bit of searching I found that some people fixed theirs by adding the Nvidia modules to mkinitcpio.conf. Trying that didn't help at all.

I don't remember where i found it, but i had to have a file callled /etc/modprob.d/blacklist-nvidia-nouveau.conf containing the following words without the quotes "blacklist nouveau" to get mine to work properly. Perhaps that will help get you started on your search.

That file is already provided by the nvidia package.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

What "doesn't work" exactly? The lspci output shows the nvidia module is loaded, what are you doing to surmise it isn't working which command and which error message exactly? Maybe post your xorg log as well. Note that for any of these things to work in any acceptable fashion you will need to configure gnome/GDM to start a xorg session: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GDM#Use_Xorg_backend

I can't really run anything that uses the nvidia gpu.

archtop% prime-run glxinfo -B

Major opcode of failed request: 152 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 24 (X_GLXCreateNewContext)

Module path isn't expanded and a few permissions denied, you don't have a custom xorg conf for either graphics card right? What happens if you add both i915 and the nvidia modules to mkinitcpio.conf (... and rerun mkinitcpio -P to regenerate the images)

Re: [CLOSED] Nvidia drivers won't load on fresh install (HARDWARE FAILURE)

After a lot of shenanigans, I tried to downgrade to version 465.31 from nvidia according to this nvidia dev forum post to no avail. I fear that the chip might be toast.
I'm currently downloading a windows environment to see if that's the case.

I was not able to get the windows thing running, for now I'll consider the gpu dead.

Re: [CLOSED] Nvidia drivers won't load on fresh install (HARDWARE FAILURE)

I managed to install windows 10 on an external disk, the intel drivers worked flawlessly but unfortunately, NVIDIA threw code 43.

I suppose it's time to get something new.

Mod Edit - Replaced oversized image with link.
CoC - Pasting pictures and code
